1) What this policy covers
 

This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use AppLock - Hide Secret Apps (the “App”) and when you visit our Website (the “Site”). Together, the App and Site are the “Services”.

What the App does: lock selected apps with PIN/pattern/biometric; optionally hide photos/videos in a local vault; optionally take intruder selfies after failed unlock; optionally hide/secure notifications; optional backup/restore features. The App is not a cloud photo service and does not modify device firmware. (See Play description for features like intruder selfie, notification control, and backup.
 



2) Data we collect
 

A. Information you provide

  • Security credentials you create in-app (e.g., PIN or pattern) — stored locally on your device.

  • Vault selections (photos/videos you choose to import/hide) — stored locally on your device in app-private storage; not uploaded to our servers by default.

  • Support communications you send us (email content/attachments).

B. Collected automatically

  • App diagnostics & performance data (e.g., crash logs, basic analytics events like app opens/screens; device model class, OS version).

  • Advertising ID (resettable) for ad serving/measurement if you use the free, ad-supported version.

  • Website cookies (on the Site): essential cookies for basic functions; optional analytics/marketing cookies controlled via our banner.

We do not automatically read or collect your personal photos, messages, or app content. Items you put in the vault stay on your device unless you explicitly export/backup them.

Play Data safety (as currently declared on the listing): No data shared; may collect App activity, App info & performance, and Device or other IDs; encrypted in transit; “Data can’t be deleted.”
 



3) Why we use data (purposes & legal bases)
 

  • Core functionality (contract / legitimate interests):

    • Lock/unlock selected apps; run the vault locally; optional intruder selfie; optional notification hiding.

    • Maintain app integrity (detect new app installs to offer lock; show lock overlay).

  • Diagnostics & quality (legitimate interests / consent where required): improve stability and performance.

  • Ads & measurement (free version) (legitimate interests/consent): show ads and measure their performance using resettable identifiers; you can limit ad personalization in device settings.

  • Support & compliance (legal obligations / legitimate interests): respond to requests; prevent abuse; comply with law.
     



4) Sensitive permissions (what we request & why)
 

All sensitive access is opt-in and used only for the features below. You can disable any of them at any time in system settings.

  • Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): detect which app is in the foreground so we can present the lock screen when a protected app opens. We do not read the content of other apps.

  • Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): show the lock screen overlay above protected apps.

  • Biometric / Device credentials: let you unlock with fingerprint/face/PIN via the system’s BiometricPrompt. We never receive raw biometric data.

  • Notifications access (Notification Listener, optional): hide lockscreen notification content for selected apps. Processing happens on-device; we do not store notification content.

  • Camera (optional): only if you enable Intruder Selfie; photos are stored locally in the app’s area.

  • Photos/Media (scoped storage): to import/hide files you select into the local vault, and to export/restore them if you choose.

  • Device Admin / uninstall protection (optional): if you enable uninstall protection, we request device admin privileges only to prevent accidental uninstalls; you can turn this off anytime in settings.

We do not request SMS, Call Logs, or Contacts; we do not auto-collect non-resettable device identifiers (e.g., IMEI).
 



5) Sharing & processors
 

We do not sell personal information. We share data only with service providers acting on our behalf (under data-processing agreements):

  • Ads/Measurement SDKs (free version): Google AdMob, Meta Audience Network / Facebook SDK — use Advertising ID for ad delivery/frequency/measurement.

  • Crash/analytics (if enabled in your build): Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics.

  • Email/support & hosting/CDN for our Site/updates.

Payments for in-app purchases are handled by Google Play Billing; we don’t store full card data.
 



6) Storage & retention
 

  • Vault content & intruder photos: remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App.

  • Backups (optional): if you choose to back up vault items to your own cloud (e.g., via Android’s system file picker/Drive), files are transferred to your account with your chosen cloud provider. We don’t access those files.

  • Diagnostics & ads data: typically retained by SDK providers for ~13–24 months in aggregated form.

  • Support emails: retained as long as needed to resolve your request and for legal/audit purposes.
     



7) Your controls & rights
 

  • On-device controls: you can remove vault items, clear app data, or uninstall the App to delete local content.

  • Ads controls: reset/limit Advertising ID and opt out of ad personalization in system settings.

  • Support records: email [email protected] to request deletion of prior support communications (we’ll honor applicable laws).

Where applicable (e.g., GDPR/UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, India DPDP), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to certain processing. Contact [email protected].

Note: The Play listing currently declares “Data can’t be deleted.” That reflects that the App does not maintain a cloud account with us; your sensitive content is local and controlled by you. 

 



8) Children
 

The App is not intended for children. We do not knowingly process children’s data or show personalized ads to children.
 



9) Security
 

  • App operates primarily on-device.

  • Data in transit to third-party services (e.g., SDK endpoints) is protected with TLS.

  • Access control and least-privilege practices for any backend systems we operate.
    No system is 100% secure—report concerns to [email protected].
     



10) Cookies (Website)
 

The Site uses:

  • Essential cookies for basic functionality.

  • Optional analytics/marketing cookies (where required, we obtain consent and provide a settings banner).
     



11) Changes
 

We’ll update this Policy from time to time and post a new Effective date. For material changes, we may notify you in-app, on the Site, or by email.
